Soapstone Raw

 Description

Soapstone raw is unfinished material, manufactures the finish product. Sandstone is a metamorphic rock which is main rock among igneous and sedimentary rock. It is formatted by high heat and pressure. It is magnesium silicate mineral. Due to softness, it is easy to carve. It is a form of talc. The name Soapstone derived due to its smoothness as talc and soap. It's a soft heavy compact variety with talc and soap feels. Soapstone is steatite stone. Alkalis and acids can not affect soapstone.

Soapstone is easy to carve and cut. The rock is also known as schist.

Soapstone composed of Silica, Alumina, Calcium oxide, Iron oxide, Soda and potash, Mica, Red Oxide, and Chalk.

Silica (SiO2) :45.0%
Alumina (Al2O3) :38.0%
Iron oxide (Fe2O3) : 0.6%
Soda and potash (NaO & KO2) :0.07%
Lime (CaO) :0.06%
Magnesia (MgO) :0.07%
After quarrying process, soapstone raw needs go through a selection process. In selection process obtain different varieties of soapstone according to chemical properties.

Soapstone rock consists of:

Talc Mg3Si4O10(OH)2. This is one of the softest minerals.

Chlorite (Mg,Fe,Li)6AlSi3O10(OH)8.

Dolomite (CaMg(CO3)2)

Magnesite (MgCO3), is part of the calcite group of minerals belongs to magnesium group. Soapstone raw needs grinding, crushing process to get finish material.
