Sandstone Raw

Sandstone is a sedimentary rock. It is formed by compaction and consolidation of sand, which is get together by a natural cementing material, such as silica. Sandstone raw consists of sand cemented by silica, iron, and lime. It is quartz based stone. It is one of the hardest and toughest materials. Sandstone is mined using quarrying. Commonly sandstone is composed of quartz and feldspar.

The hardness of sandstone depends on composition. Sandstone with quartz is hardest form. Sandstones are usually gray, red, brown or buff although green and some other colors are also found. Color also depends on mineral composition. Such as Green sandstones contains shells and iron oxides with sand grain. Sandstone is very popular for construction and industry use.

Sandstone is usually composed of silica, calcium carbonate, or iron oxide. It is mainly made of quartz. Constituent of sandstone by percentage:

Silica (SiO2) : 91% to 93%
Alumina (Al2O3) : 1.3% to 1.45%
Iron oxide (Fe2O3) : 1.4% to 1.55%
Soda and potash (NaO & KO2) : 1.0 % to 1.2%
Lime (CaO) : 0.7% to 0.9%
Magnesia (MgO) : 0.22% to 0.25%
Sandstone raw is rough material for finished product such as slab, tiles. This rough material needs to be dressing, grinding, cutting and polish for final fine look.
