 Description


Dolomite: Dolomite consists of 60 weight % of calcium oxide and 40 weight % magnesium oxide. Dolomite also composes of some other impurities such as SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, and ZrO2. Dolomite raw is consist of calcium magnesium carbonate (CaMg (CO3)2). It is a sedimentary rock.

Dolomite is also known as Dolostone. The pure dolomite mineral is white with luster. But it can have impurities that can give it a range of colors, such as pink, yellow, brown, and gray. Dolomite is the raw material for production of cement, ferro-alloys, glass, alloy steels, fertilizer industry, its raw is also used as source of Magnesium oxide.

Calcitic dolomite', 'high-calcium dolomite' or 'lime-dolomite', 'dolomitic limestone', 'magnesian limestone', limestone are some forms of dolomite according to chemical composition. If >10%, theoretical composition, mineral called 'calcitic dolomite', 'high-calcium dolomite' or 'lime-dolomite'. If the percentage of MgCO3 is decrease, it is called 'dolomitic limestone'. If the MgCO3 is between 5-10%, it is called 'magnesium limestone'.
